In education, we are in the wonderful and privileged business of guiding and preparing young people for their next stage in life’s journey. It’s a process towards the next goal, but we celebrate and rejoice in their achievements along the way. However, those goal posts are no longer static, technology in particular is disrupting the picture that has been reasonably stable for a long time. All the evidence points to our children and young adults needing different sets of skills interacting with one another and with the changing world; they need to be multi-literate, agile learners with strong emotional intelligence. In the face of AI, they will need to embrace their humanity.
